![]() There's no RGB lighting, but there is a backplate, which is a bit of a surprise on a semi-budget GPU. ![]() It's eight inches long and features an aluminum heatsink that covers most of the GPU, with two fans overlaid on top of it that feature EVGA logos. The EVGA card I received for review is short and kind of stubby, but definitely not as thicc as the really fat versions EVGA has offered previously. Nvidia claims this upgrade is good for up to 20 percent more performance compared to the GTX 1660. Though it uses the same 192-bit memory bus as the non-super version, the extra fast memory has allowed bandwidth to increase from 192.1GB/s to a whopping 336GB/s, which is a whopping 75 percent increase. The GTX 1660 card uses GDDR5 memory clocked at 8Gb/s, while the Super version is sporting 14GB/s modules found on Nvidia's higher-end GPUs. Here's a spec chart that illustrates the changes:Īs I wrote above, the big change here is the move to faster GDDR6 memory. It still has 6GB total, and otherwise has the same number of CUDA cores, the same clock speeds and memory bus width, but it does have a slightly higher TDP of 125w, compared to 120w for the vanilla card. The specs are almost exactly the same as the standard 1660, aside from using faster GDDR6 memory. The GTX 1660 Super uses the TU116 die, which is the same one found on the GTX 16 Ti. Nvidia is positioning this GPU as a good upgrade from the GTX 1060, saying that it's "up to 1.5 times faster." It will be available as you are reading this from all of Nvidia's board partners (Asus, EVGA, Gigabyte, et al.) as there will not be a Founders Edition." EVGA GeForce GTX 1660 Super - Design and Features The big news with the Super version of the GTX 1660 is that it offers faster GDDR6 memory, which allows for almost double the memory bandwidth compared to the GTX 1660.
